It's almost here!!!

Well, 3 weeks and counting. Hard to believe it's almost here already, the summer has gone by so fast.

We've added a booksale to the list of events. Thanks to my friend and neighbor Ruth Branyan, we can now have the booksale I thought we wouldn't have the manpower to run. She will be manning the sale Saturday, August 4th from 9am-1pm. The proceeds from this sale will benefit the new Copemish Area Library and will be held at the Village Hall. Stop in and see her, and find yourself a good book to read!

Thank you Ruth for all your help and donations!!

There will also be a mud bog on Saturday at 3pm. For more information, go to
www.dustersoffroadclub.com.

I finally got pictures on here!!!

It took coming to the Village Hall where the DSL is to get pictures on here, but they are finally here. Not exactly in the order I'd like, but I'll worry about that later.

Very soon there should be a preliminary timeline for the festival. Keep checking back because things will change many times over the next few months. By June 1st there will be a permanent timeline for events for the festival.

History of the Festival

About 5 years ago, a small group of citizens from Copemish got together and came up with an idea to bring the community together. A festival was formed with a lot of help from a great group of people. Since then, the festival has grown and flourished into a wonderful event that the citizens of Copemish, as well as people from all the surrounding Villages and Cities, look forward to every year.

Some of the original help have moved on, and new volunteers are added every year to make this event what it is. This small town festival has a parade that has about 65 entries every year, and streets lined with spectators. The children all know there will be candy to collect from most of the entrants, and they sit, patiently waiting and watching for the candy to come flying!!

Other events include kids games, a horseshoe tournament, crafts and music in the park, a historical society booth, free water booth with kids events (sponsored by Pomona Bible Church), teen basketball tournament, church in the park, pancake breakfast (sponsord by St. Rafael's Church), Historical Society 5K run, as well as dances for both teens and adults.

This year we've added a few other items to our list. There will be a book sale to raise money for the soon to be opened Copemish Area Library, as well as a Grand Opening for the Copemish Area Community Center.

Keep checking back, as I will be listing the events and times for this year's festival, as we get them in line!!
